COMMUNITY OUTREACH

At Milo's Bravest Friends, our mission extends far beyond the cats in our care. We believe that building a stronger, more compassionate community helps animals and people alike. Through volunteer opportunities, community resources, educational initiatives, and local events, we're committed to creating meaningful ways for our neighbors to get involved and make a difference.
Community Donation Box & Cat Food Bank
Our Community Donation Box and Cat Food Bank was created to support not only Milo's Bravest Friends, but also local rescuers, rescue organizations, and pet owners facing temporary hardship. Located in West Haven, Connecticut, the box serves as a place where community members can donate unopened cat food, litter, toys, and supplies that can be redistributed to those who need them most.
We know that sometimes a bag of food, a box of litter, or a few cans of wet food can make all the difference in keeping a beloved pet at home. By working together, we can help prevent unnecessary surrenders and support both animals and the people who care for them.
Volunteer Opportunities
Our rescue is powered almost entirely by volunteers. Whether you can commit to a regular shift or help at a special event, every contribution matters.
Volunteer opportunities may include:
-
Animal care and socialization
-
Cleaning and facility maintenance
-
Adoption and event support
-
Transportation assistance
-
Administrative and fundraising projects
-
Photography, marketing, and social media
-
Community outreach initiatives
No matter your experience level, there is a place for you in our village. The cats, and the humans behind them, are always grateful for an extra set of hands.
Community Events
Throughout the year, we host events designed to bring animal lovers together while raising awareness and support for special-needs cats. From volunteer workdays and educational programs to fundraising events and adoption meet-and-greets, our events help strengthen the community that makes our work possible.
One of our favorite traditions is Milo's Birthday Bash, an annual celebration honoring the cat who inspired it all. What started as a birthday party for one very special cat has become an opportunity for supporters, adopters, volunteers, and friends to come together, celebrate rescue, and help raise funds for future Bravest Friends.
We believe rescue is about more than saving individual animals, it's about creating connections, building community, and proving that when people come together, incredible things happen.
We hope you'll join us.
